    If you’re wondering how to unlock Nortel Networks Auto Attendant, here is the step-by-step process.

    If your office is equipped with an aging Nortel Networks Phone System, you may encounter issues such as the “Contact Admin” notification appearing on your Nortel T7316e.

    1. Press  9 8 3
    2. Enter System Admin Password  (see below) 
    • See reference below for (2 vs 3 vs 4 digits)
    1. Press AA
    2. Press GRTG
    3. Press GRTG
    4. Enter Greeting Number (from 1 to 40) – typically “1”
    5. Press OK
    6. Press REC
    7. Record your greeting at the tone
    8. Press Ok to end your recording
    9. Press
      1. PLAY to listen to the greeting
      2. Ok to accept the greeting
      3. RETRY to re-record the greeting
    10. Repeat steps 5-9 to record another greeting
    11. Press  to end.

    Record a Company Greeting from an External Phone (Remotely)

    1. Access the Administrator Mailbox by pressing ** while the greeting plays.
    2. Enter the Administrator Mailbox number and password (see # 2 above).
    3. Press 9 9
    4. Press 2 (change a company greeting)
    5. Enter the number to the greeting you wish to change (1-40)
    6. Record your greeting after the tone
    7. Press # to end your recording
    8. Press
      1. 1 to play your recording
      2. # to accept your recording
      3. 2 to re-record your greeting

    The most crucial step in unlocking your mailbox involves determining the correct password based on your extension length:

    • 2-digit extensions: Default password is 120000
    • 3-digit extensions: Default password is 1020000
    • 4-digit extensions: Default password is 10020000

    How do I access my Nortel Voicemail

    When accessing your Nortel Voicemail, it’s crucial to understand that there are three key sections you may need to navigate. Entering the wrong section without the proper knowledge can lead to functionality issues, so it’s essential to ensure you’re in the correct area before making any changes. Proper access is vital for maintaining the integrity of your voicemail system.

    How to retrieve voicemails from your personal voicemail box

    Check the Voicemail key or the Feature button, then 981

    Followed by your PIN Number

    All Norstar telephones provide voicemail voice prompts

    Once you are in your Voicemail you can listen to messages, change your greeting, change your password, etc

     

    How to Access Voicemail Programming & Auto Attendant Areas

    With Feature 983.

    The password consists of two parts: the system co-ordinators mailbox number (which depends on the DN length) and the personal password. Use the following table to determine your default password:

    To enter administration programming:

    Feature 983 then enter the log code (System Manager mailbox # followed by its password) & OK

    The System Manager mailbox can be 12, 102 or 1002 depending on how many digits your ext # is.

    The default password for System Manager is 0000, it may have been changed to 1234, 1111, or other.

    Example: if you are X221 then you are a 3-digit system, so use: 1020000 (where 0000 is the password)

    Log Code Defaults:

    The following are possible administrative passwords based on your extension length.

    2 digit, 3 digit, and 4 digit

    DN length Default password
    2 120000
    3 1020000
    4 10020000

     

    Change the greeting in AA

    1. Press Feature 983 
    2. Enter LOG Code: _____, press OK 
    3. Press AA 
    4. Press Grtg, press Grtg again
    5. Enter the Greeting Number 1
    6. Press OK 
    7. Press Rec… record greeting, press OK when done
    8. Press OK to accept the recording: press Rls when done

     

    Change the greeting to play through parts of the day

    1. Press Feature 983 
    2. Enter LOG Code: _____, press OK 
    3. Press AA 
    4. Press Table, press 1,  press OK
    5. Press Change to 1 (Greeting 1)
    6. Do this for Morning, Afternoon, Evening, and Non-Business(if using)

    To Program Buttons On Your Phone:

    For External Numbers:

    1. Press the Feature button, then *1
    2. Push the button you want to program, display will read Program and OK
    3. Enter the telephone number, then press the OK softkey

    For Internal Numbers (Extensions):

    1. Press the Feature button, then *21
    2. Push the button you want to program, display will read Intercom #:__
    3. Enter the extension number

    1. Press the Feature button, then *3
    2. Push the button you want to program
    3. Press the Feature button then enter the Feature Code

    To Change the Contrast of the Display:

    1. Dial the Feature button, then *7
    2. Press the number keys 1 – 9 to your desired brightness level
    3. Press the OK softkey

    To Change your Ring Type:

    1. Press the Feature button, then *6
    2. Press the number keys 1 – 4 to hear the different ring types
    3. Press the OK softkey when you hear your desired ring

    To Change the Ring Volume:

    1. Press the Feature button, then *80
    2. Press the volume key up ▲ or down ▼
    3. Press the Rls key to exit and save the volume level

    To Program Personal Speed Dial Numbers: (Numbers 71 – 94 only)

    1. Press the Feature button, then *4
    2. Enter the 2 digit code (71 – 94) that you want to assign to that phone number
    3. Enter the telephone number, then press the OK softkey, display will show: Entry xx stored
